
Shelley Arends graduated from California State University – Fullerton in 1986 with a degree in Business Marketing. Since college Shelley has successfully opened and sold many businesses including Retail Food, Wholesale Food, Lodging , Health/ Fitness, Manufacturing and Branding.
Shelley has been a competitive athlete nearly her whole life. Beginning with competitive off road motorcycle racing at the age of 5, nationally ranked bowling while in college and then moving into Indoor Cycling in 1998.
She obtained certifications from Reebok, 2 from Johnny G , Schwinn and Body Pump®
Shelley was an early adopter of SPIN® in Orange County Ca. by 2000 her popularity exploded when she moved away from the typical SPIN® methods and developed the Rhythm Ride® method of Indoor Cycling. Later she developed the Rhythm Ripped® method incorporating lightweights into the Indoor Cycling routine. While teaching in over 50 gyms and studios across the county and while refining her methods, she developed a training manual and 2 day training course for Rhythm Ride®. Soon to be instructors would come from all over the U.S. and other far away places to be certified as Rhythm Ride® Instructors.
Once Shelley obtained the trademark for Rhythm Ride® and Rhythm Ripped® she branched out to develop her own Indoor Cycling Studios. First Laguna Spin Studio in 2006, then Rhythm Cycle® and finally Rhythm Ride® in 2008 with at one point 4 locations in 3 states. Rhythm Ride® Certified Instructors are currently instructing in many states across the county and in Australia.
Shelley lives in Laguna Beach Ca and is married to her husband for 33 years and has two adult boys. Currently she is the Chief Executive Officer and Designer of beachBRELLA® a luxury brand od beach umbrellas.
As an “Expert Witness” Shelley would provide over 33 years experience in business ventures along with 21 years as an early adopter of the Indoor Cycling Industry. In conclusion she is currently teaching classes, developed unique methods, trained and certified instructors and has started Indoor Cycling studios from the ground up.
